Good practice

An area protected for everybody !

The Natura 2000 site “Cap Ferrat”, 100% marine, was designated in 2009 according to the European directive as “Habitats, Fauna, Flora”. It stretches on about 9 000 hectares, located in front of the coastline of Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, Beaulieu-sur-Mer, Villefranche-sur-Mer, Eze and Cap d’Ail.

This very attractive territory, where numerous activities develop, hosts sea life ecosystems and a plentiful biodiversity. Five habitats of community interest  (that is to say protected throughout Europe) are present on the site, particularly the Posidonia meadow and the Coralligenous biocenosis, along with two spieces of community interest such as the Bottlenose dolphin and the Loggerhead sea turtle.
